IITAP's Global Science and Technology Education Network (GSTEN) provides refurbished computers to the University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Five computers were delivered in March 2000 to the University of Addis Ababa Physics Department under the IITAP GSTEN program with UNESCO support. They are used by graduate and undergraduate students in a physics computer lab for coursework and research.

The computers were donated by Iowa Companies and upgraded by the Central Iowa Computer Users Group (www.ciacug.org) and by IITAP.

Pictures 1 - 4 show students at work in the computer lab.

Pictured with the students (pictures 5 and 6) are members of the Department of Physics at the University of Addis Ababa, Prof. Mulugeta Bekele (blue sweater), Chair, and Prof. Jonathan Partee, a recent Ph.D. graduate of ISU. Also pictured is IITAP Director James Vary.
